The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan on Monday directed all Deputy Commissioners and Director School Education to ensure that no tuition and bus fee is charged from students of government as well as private schools during closed days of August and September months of year 2019.

All the educational institutions have remained shut in Kashmir following the abrogation of the Article 370 and the division of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories.

“If any educational institution is found indulging this practice, heavy course of penalty shall be charged besides registration of such educational institution would be cancelled,” an official spokesperson said in astatement.

“He stressed concerned to implement the directions in letterand spirit across the valley,” the statement added.

The Valley has remained under lockdown for nearly two months since the abrogation of the Article 370 by the BJP-led Centre and a sweeping crackdown on not just militants but even mainstream parties like National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party with former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti under detention.

An array of political leaders, businessmen, lawyers,activists and others have also been confined to Centaur Hotel on the banks ofDal Lake which has been declared as a sub-jail by the state administration.
